About Positive Psychology Kenya

Character Coaches Programme in Kenya is a flagship initiative of Positive Psychology Association of Kenya (PPAK) since 2022.

Positive Psychology is an evolving approach in mainstream psychology. Since 1998, it has shifted the focus of psychology towards well-being and happiness, alongside addressing psychological disorders. This has spurred extensive research, conceptual development, and intervention strategies.

Since 2014, Rev. Prof. Sahaya G. Selvam has been integrating Positive Psychology into the core curriculum for Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Counselling Psychology and offering it as an elective for MA in Counselling Psychology at Tangaza University College.

Driven by the enthusiasm of students and workshop participants, a core team emerged, forming the foundation of Positive Psychology Association of Kenya (PPAK).

PPAK is a registered society under the Department of the Registrar-General of Kenya (SOC/79527, dated 24 January 2020), officially launched on 20 February 2020.
